2008 ROUND 1

Climbing a mountain

seems completely asinine,

til I look around

Allie Movrich

the soil underfoot

gives way and cold rain pounds down

to create clean mud

Patricia Gut

Earth beneath our feet

Providing us with structure

Absorbs our impact

Lauren Fiedler

Patches of no grass –

Ant colonies in the lawn.

Well-aerated earth.

Anne Shudy Palmer

The moon is shining

The rain drops are coming down

The stones glisten bright

Margaret Palzkill

a wind shaped cypress

grows from within the steep cliff

barely holding on

Jade Lewis

it is invisible

but cools my face in passing

breathing in freshness

Miranda Madole

Constant forever.

I watch the world move around.

No one will find me.

Jack Han

gravel on the ground

of an empty parking lot

dusty from the cars

Charu Gupta

As warm days pass by

hidden under the stairway

a small gray bat sleeps...

Patricia Gut

Hot stones on my back

Getting in touch with nature

For ninety dollars

Elizabeth Arata

Pebbles everywhere

On a long worn out walkway

Leading me back home

Scott Zastoupil

Hollow old tree trunk

Covered in the softest moss

Resting place for birds

Jenalie Auth

cold concrete underfoot

as a crisp breeze flows over

the tip of my nose

Jenny Larson

I'm sick of liars

Warmongers and colonizers

Money rules the world
