You
may be surprised to find a section of student poetry in a business school
course. Most students are surprised that they are asked to write poetry.
However, the purpose behind writing poetry is to introduce (or reacquaint)
students with their creativity. Most of the classes that business students
take (and, in fact, most students take) develop the logical sides of your
brains. However, I do not believe that using a logical approach will solve the
kinds of challenges that we are facing as a world society.
Einstein said "The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them." We need to think about things differently in order to really find ways out of the boxes in which we have painted ourselves. Thus, even though students did not sign up for a humanities class, they are all required to do some creative work. I have found that the quality of this creative work surprises even the students. Enjoy what you find here!
